About Us

STEM Ambassadors in Scotland is based at SSERC and coordinates the STEM Ambassador Programme across Scotland on behalf of STEM Learning. STEM Ambassadors are volunteers working in or studying STEM subjects who work with young people to bring STEM subjects alive through real-life experiences. 

We support over 5,000 Ambassadors in Scotland to deliver engaging STEM experiences for schools, community and youth groups. 

STEM Ambassadors in Scotland is split into three region; North, East and West with a dedicated member of staff managing each area.

The STEM Ambassadors in Scotland team has over 30 years of experience working with STEM Ambassadors, STEM employers, schools, community groups and partners. Find out more about the team below!

Meet the Team

Kerri Haynes

Programme Manager (East)

Kerri has several years of experience of the STEM Ambassador programme both from leading the the East Scotland Hub, to coordinating a STEM Ambassador scheme in a large engineering company. Kerri loves knitting, spending too much money on board games and searching for geocaches in the Scottish countryside.

Ewa Monteith- Hodge

Programme Manager (West)

Ewa has managed onboarding of volunteers, communications and social media in the previous West of Scotland Hub for almost 5 years. She loves to be outside and can usually be found hiking, cycling or camping and generally enjoying nature.

Aileen Hamilton

National Partnerships Manager

Aileen managed the West of Scotland Hub and has been with the STEM Ambassador Programme since its inception, 19 years ago. Aileen’s spare time is taken up with her teenage children, helping them on their own STEM journeys and ferrying them about everywhere. She loves travel, exploring the great outdoors and following Scottish Rugby.

Debbie Mathers

Programme Manager (North)

Debbie has coordinated the North Scotland region for over 4 years and has experience delivering training sessions and driving long distances!  She is passionate about cooking, skiing and completing sudokus, as well as, travelling and going on holiday whenever possible.

Kimberly Dalton

Administrator

Kimberly has been an administrator for SSERC for 2 years. She loves learning new things and meeting new people. She also loves to go for longs walks when she is not working.

Alastair MacGregor

Chief Executive

Alastair has been the Chief Executive Officer at SSERC for  3 ½ years and is also an active STEM Ambassador.   Watching his team play  Scottish premiership football,  going to the gym, heading out on his motorbike, and Sharpei dogs take up most of this non-work time.
