IGBE: Language Workshop Part 1/2

Aim: to learn more about the origins of gender stereotyped language and the effect of our unconscious bias to support you in becoming a more inclusive STEM Ambassador.

In part one of this series of training sessions focusing on language and unconscious bias, the Improving Gender Balance and Equalities (IGBE) team from Education Scotland will take STEM Ambassadors through the following topics:

• Language associated with STEM
• Language used from birth
• Impact of language on self-identity
• Policing and language
• Saying the wrong thing
• What can you do?

We like the sessions to be as interactive as possible so please come prepared to answer questions and participate in discussions.  There will be opportunity to share your exepriences and ideas throughout the session as well.
