Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

Tell us about your career journey so far.
My career journey hasn’t been the most smooth sailing - I’ve made some big decisions and worked many jobs, considering my age. After I finished school, I was unsure about going to university and also what to study.
Eventually, I chose to study Digital Media at the University of Stirling. I was enjoying the course but realised university was no longer for me, so then I had to make a big decision of whether to finish my 4th year or not (hint: I didn’t). After I left, I worked 2 jobs whilst building my portfolio and wishing for interviews, but ended up working in recruitment for almost 1.5 years. It was a good learning curve but wasn’t making me happy so I left that job during the pandemic (another big decision!), worked as a babysitter to fund myself, and then managed to land the job I’m in now at CodeBase.
What was your favourite subject in school and why?
I actually really enjoyed maths - to many people’s surprise! I had some great teachers who made me look at it in a more creative and problem-solving way. I enjoyed knowing that in many cases there were different routes to the same solution - so although my peers and I had completely alternative ways of solving the problems, we usually ended up with the correct answer. It taught me that success comes in many different forms and that if something isn’t working out for you, you can always try figuring it out another way.
What subjects/qualifications/skills are useful for your role?
My job role mainly involves technical skills, using both hardware and software. My daily tasks mostly involve creating content for digital channels, and so I need to have the technical knowledge to be able to use different apps and hardware such as cameras to be able to do my job properly!
What is your favourite thing about your job?
Recently we have re-started our monthly DS4G (Digital Skills 4 Girls) club where we help girls under the age of 18 to learn and improve on their digital skills. I have a lot of admiration for those who come along as they have such enthusiasm about learning and I think that’s really important.
What is a normal day in your role like?
A normal day in my job would include looking over the social media and making sure there are consistent posts going up, planning and executing events alongside the events manager and creating content for digital channels.
And what does your job title mean?
My job title means managing and coordinating the digital aspects of the company and helping out with the events ran by the company
