We are delighted that the Scottish STEM Ambassador Hub is currently undertaking Investing in Volunteers (IiV) which is the UK quality standard for good practice in volunteer management. Over 6,000 enthusiastic volunteers give up so much of their time to inspire young people in Scotland, so it is only right that we show our support and commitment to them by undertaking this evaluation process and subsequent development through the IiV framework. By going through the rigorous assessment of the quality of our volunteer management, we seek to improve the effectiveness of our STEM Ambassador Programme.
Already we have created a volunteer policy and role description, available on our website, and consolidated and improved all of our administration processes to ensure a high level of service is provided to STEM Ambassadors on their route to becoming authorised. Support for STEM Ambassadors throughout their volunteering journey has been improved in terms of safeguarding, problem solving and communication, and we strive to provide an outstanding volunteer experience.
The next stage involves a full evaluation of our volunteer programme with Volunteer Scotland, where our volunteers, staff members and partners are asked for their input and observations on the service provided. If you are a STEM Ambassador, practitioner or STEM partner and would like to take part in this evaluation please contact us.
