STEM Ambassadors in Scotland awarded Investing in Volunteers Accreditation

The STEM Ambassadors in Scotland team are delighted to announce that we have been awarded Investing in Volunteers Accreditation!

Investing in Volunteers is the UK quality standard for good practice in volunteer management. We are thrilled to be joining a group of organisations who are making outstanding contributions within the voluntary sector.

The STEM Ambassadors in Scotland team began working towards this accreditation in 2020. The full Hub team along with additional members of the wider SSERC team were interviewed and the accreditation process involved an in-depth review of all of our processes and documentation.

A total of 77 STEM Ambassadors were interviewed and completed questionnaires as part of the accreditation process and we are hugely grateful for the support of each and every participant. We have received a wealth of feedback which will help us to continue to provide the quality of service we have been recognised for.

One interview participant said:

Being a STEM Ambassador is a bit of a badge of honour, it’s good for promotion,

can help with career change, a move into teaching, or just being a good person. The STEM Ambassador programme sells itself”.

Alastair MacGregor, Chief Executive Officer, SSERC said: “Receiving this recognition affirms our commitment to providing a positive and supportive volunteer experience for STEM Ambassadors. Our volunteers are crucial to achieving our aim of bringing STEM subjects to life through real-life experiences and it is vital that they enjoy a fulfilling and rewarding experience in return. We are immensely proud of this achievement.”

On behalf of the whole STEM Ambassadors in Scotland team, we extend a huge thank you to the STEM Ambassador network for your support and contributions to the programme.
