Win Tickets - If Science is to Save Us, Edinburgh Science Festival

The Edinburgh Science Festival is back from 1st - 16th April 2023 with lots of amazing events and we have the chance for one lucky STEM Ambassador to win a pair of tickets to one of these great events.

Astronomer Royal and former President of the Royal Society, Lord Martin Rees is an eminent voice in the debate about climate change and the future of humanity. At no other point in history have we had such advanced knowledge and technology to determine the future of our planet.

In this talk, Lord Rees takes a radical look at the scientific establishment and shows how science is not just for scientists but can make a better world – for everyone.

We also want to know if any of our ambassadors are budding astronomers or even astronauts but not just that, we want to know if you work in any area of the Space Sector, from satellites to spaceports.

If you work or have an interest in anything space related or have run spaced themed activities we would love to know more, and have you join our One Million Interactions Scheme.

One Million Interactions is an initiative to attract more young people into science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and the space industry. Supporting STEM Ambassadors to deliver successful interactions with young people, inspiring and encouraging the next generation of space professionals. The overall aim of the initiative is to help create 1 million interactions between young people and space professionals each year.

We are looking for STEM Ambassadors from a broad range of jobs and backgrounds within the space industry to engage with young people to demonstrate the connection between the STEM subjects they study and the potential careers in space travel and exploration.

There are lots of reasons to become a One Million Interactions STEM Ambassador, just a few are listed below!

  • Share your work with an engaged audience

  • Make a genuine difference in the lives of young people

  • Inspire the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians

  • Become a mentor for engaging ESERO-UK space programmes

  • Gain a sense of achievement as you share your experience with a new audience

  • Develop your own careers skills, getting a real confidence boost

We also have an easy-to-use guide, created to support space sector STEM Ambassadors in delivering inspiring interactions with young people, with clearly labelled sections so you can pick and choose what support you require!
